Reviewing Pending Changes: Enrichment and Verification Queues
Some changes in a Cleanse or Transfer dataset are not written straight away. Enrichment actions set to Manual apply mode hold their results until someone approves them, and verification can produce suggested corrections that wait for a decision. DataGroomr collects this work as pending changes and lets you review it record by record in a queue, or apply everything that remains in one action.
Where Pending Changes Appear
When a dataset has pending work, a Pending changes bar appears under the toolbar, highlighted in the same way as the integrity check. It shows a count chip for each type: Enrich for staged enrichment results and Verify for verification suggestions. A chip with a zero count is not shown, and the whole bar is hidden when nothing is pending. Click a chip to open the review queue for that type.
Records with pending changes also show a badge beneath the record name in the first column of the grid, for example 3 enrich or 1 verify. A record with both types shows both badges. Click a badge to open the queue positioned at that record. The count reflects the fields still pending and clears once the record is fully resolved.
Clicking a Suggestion label on a verified field opens the Verify queue positioned on that record as well. The same queue is used when you click a verification suggestion in a Dedupe or Transfer dataset, replacing the earlier single-field Replace dialog.
The Review Queue
Both queues share the same layout. The Enrichment results queue is used for staged enrichment and the Verified suggestions queue for verification suggestions; only the accent colour differs.
- The header shows the record name with a link to the record in Salesforce. In the Enrichment results queue the names of the actions that produced the results are listed beneath it.
- A navigator shows your position and the total, for example 3 of 24, with previous and next arrows. Moving between records makes no decision about them.
- The table lists each field with its current value under Before and the proposed value under After. Every changed field has a switch, on by default, that controls whether it is written. Fields whose value would not change are listed for context without a switch. Empty values are shown as Empty.
- The footer keeps a live count of records applied, ignored and skipped as you work.
Reviewing a Record
Three decisions sit in a row above the footer:
- Apply writes the switched-on fields to Salesforce and advances to the next record.
- Skip leaves the record pending and advances. Skipped records stay in the Pending changes count.
- Ignore dismisses all pending fields on the record and advances. Apply and Ignore are final; Skip is not.
Keyboard shortcuts are shown on the buttons: A for Apply, S for Skip and I for Ignore, and the left and right arrow keys move between records. When you reach the end of the queue a summary of applied, ignored and still-pending records is shown.
Good to Know: Apply writes immediately, so nothing is held uncommitted. Close exits the queue at any time without a confirmation, and there is no Cancel action because there is nothing to discard.
Editing a Proposed Value
In the Enrichment results queue, a proposed value can be corrected before it is written. Click the pencil in the After cell to edit the value in place. The input matches the Salesforce field type (text, picklist, date or number). Editing a field does not change its switch; the field must still be switched on to be written, and Apply writes the edited value instead of the staged one. Edited values are validated against the Salesforce field (length, type and picklist membership) and an invalid value blocks Apply for that record until it is fixed. Fields that would not change cannot be edited.
Applying All Remaining Records
To clear a queue without stepping through every record, click Apply All in the footer. The button shows how many records remain. A confirmation states how many fields will be filled across how many records before anything is written. Apply All uses each record's proposed values as staged, includes records you skipped earlier in the session, and shows progress followed by a summary of applied and failed records.
How Results Are Staged
Enrichment results are stored when they are returned from the provider, before any write to Salesforce is attempted, for both Automatic and Manual actions. The Salesforce write reads from the stored result, so a failed write does not lose the data. In the queue a record whose write failed is marked Failed, and Apply retries it without calling the provider again or consuming additional credits. Credits are consumed when results are retrieved, regardless of apply mode.
When an enrichment run is started manually from the grid or the Review dialog, Automatic actions write immediately while Manual actions stage their results. If a run produces staged results, the Enrichment results queue opens on completion positioned at the first affected record, and the completion message states how many fields were written and how many are waiting for review.
Transfer Datasets
The Pending changes bar, record badges and both queues are also available on Transfer datasets, for results from Manual enrichment actions and for verification suggestions. Apply on a CSV row writes to the Transfer dataset, refreshes the grid, counts and integrity status, and the value goes out with the next push to Salesforce; Apply on a matched Salesforce record writes to Salesforce. Pending changes are never pushed to Salesforce until they are applied. Queues and counts cover the whole dataset, whatever view or filter is on screen.
Retention and Expiry
Staged results contain provider-sourced data such as email addresses, phone numbers and job titles that may never be written to Salesforce, so their retention is bounded.
- Each stored result holds the record, the field, the proposed value, the originating action and a timestamp.
- Pending results are kept for 30 days. After that they expire automatically and are removed from the queues, the Pending changes counts and the record badges.
- Ignored results are discarded on the same schedule.
- Results that have been fully applied are removed from staging immediately.
Note: The Apply results mode is set per enrichment action in the action editor and is shown as a Manual or Automatic tag on the dataset's Enrich tab. See Enrichment Actions.
